Howdy terms

Proper nouns and branded terms unique to Howdy. Always write them exactly as shown.

Howdy

Brand name

Always capitalized. Never “howdy” or “HOWDY”. When referring to the company in copy, use “Howdy” — not “Howdy.com” unless referencing the website specifically.

Example: “Howdy connects US companies with top LatAm engineers.” / “howdy connects…”

Howdy House / Howdy Houses

Branded space

Physical community hubs in Latin American cities where Howdy professionals work, connect, and grow. Always capitalized. Never “howdy house”, “office”, or “co-working space”.

Example: “The Howdy House in Buenos Aires” / “our Buenos Aires office”

Howdy US

Product / site

The US-facing side of Howdy, directed at American companies looking to hire LatAm talent. Website: howdy.com

Example: “Howdy US helps companies hire the top 1% of LatAm engineers.”

Howdy LATAM

Product / site

The LATAM-facing side of Howdy, directed at Latin American tech professionals looking for US opportunities. Website: howdylatam.com

Example: “Howdy LATAM connects engineers with world-class US companies.”

Howdy Professional / Howdy Talent

People

A person hired through Howdy and placed at a US partner company. Use “Howdy professional” in formal copy, “talent” in casual or internal contexts. Never “resource”, “contractor”, or “offshore worker”.

Example: “Every Howdy professional is paired with a performance coach.” / “our resources”

Partner

Client reference

A US company that hires through Howdy. Use “partner” or “US partner” — never “client”, “customer”, or “employer”.

Example: “You'll be embedded in one of our US partners' engineering teams.” / “your client”

Top 1%

Claim

Refers to the selectivity of Howdy's vetting process — only the top 1% of candidates interviewed are accepted. Always written as “top 1%” — never “top 1 percent” in headlines or short copy.

Example: “We staff the top 1% of LatAm engineers.”

Vetting / Vetted

Process

Howdy's multi-stage screening process covering technical, cultural, and language assessments. Use “vetted” to describe talent — not “screened”, “filtered”, or “tested”.

Example: “Every engineer is vetted across technical, cultural, and language criteria.”

Performance coach

Role

A Howdy team member with 10+ years of engineering management experience who supports Howdy professionals throughout their engagement. Always “performance coach” — never “mentor”, “manager”, or “HR contact”.

Example: “Your performance coach will check in regularly throughout your first 90 days.”

Nearshore

Industry term

Refers to the geographic proximity of LATAM talent to the US — same or similar time zones, enabling real-time collaboration. Use when explaining Howdy's model to technical or business audiences. Avoid in casual or community-facing copy.

Example: “Howdy's nearshore model means your team works in overlapping time zones.” / “Join our nearshore talent pool”

Culture terms

How we talk about Howdy's culture, community, and values.

Community

Culture

A core part of Howdy's identity. Refers to the network of Howdy professionals, events, and Howdy Houses across LATAM. Use “community” generously in LATAM-facing copy — it's a key differentiator.

Example: “Howdy is more than a job — it's a community.”

Partner company / US partner

Culture / hiring

The company a Howdy professional is placed at. Use “partner company” or “US partner” in candidate-facing copy — never “employer”, “client”, or “foreign company”.

Example: “You'll meet your partner company during the final interview stage.”

Retention

Metric

Refers to Howdy's 98% retention rate — a key proof point in US-facing copy. Always write as “98% retention rate” when citing the stat. In casual copy, “we keep great talent” is acceptable.

Example: “98% retention rate — because we invest in people, not just placements.”

Terms to avoid

Words and phrases that misrepresent Howdy or weaken the brand. Avoid in all communications.
